This work was inspired by a fleeting moment during a break in the studio. One of my models, at rest, was briefly reflected in a large mirror. The confined space of the mirror’s frame created a striking composition - dense and filled with the presence of her volumetric form.
My long-standing interest in ancient high reliefs and their structural qualities guided the development of this piece. The sculpture plays with contrast: the solid, unified volume of the female figure stands in tension with the concave, freer form of her reflection. Though the reflected shape appears as a separate element, it remains inseparably woven into the overall composition - an independent form held within the unity of the whole.
