I recently completed many years of work on the extraordinary tapestry Timelessness. Complex tonal relationships between volumes exist within the strict boundaries of the overall form, creating tension in the sculptural figures, immersed in the world of metaphysics.

I strive to incorporate as much sculptural quality into the composition as possible. For me, form is the primary source of aesthetic value in all my works. I’m not particularly interested in narrative, which can be discussed at length and thereby distract the viewer from a true understanding of the aesthetics of the form itself. Therefore, when examining my works, and this tapestry in particular, please try to experience it as a whole and avoid engaging in literary discourse. This may be difficult, but it is the right way to feel my work. Try to silently engage in a dialogue with this work of mine.

My earlier tapestries trace the path to this composition: The Bathers (200 × 300 cm, 1996), Five women (60 × 86 cm, 2000) and Gagra Bathers (200 × 240 cm, 2012).
